EasyJet links to Rome, Liverpool and Ryanair connecting Bournemouth
EasyJet, the low-cost airline, will introduce two new routes next year: Fiumicino (Rome) – Malta and Liverpool – Malta. Ryanair will start flying from Malta to Bournemouth in the south of England, twice weekly, as from next March 30.
EasyJet will be competing with Air Malta and Alitalia on the Rome route. Although an official announcement has not been made, the route appears on the EasyJet website.
EasyJet also announced a Milan – Malta service. Its planes begin flying between the two destinations three times a week from March 30. The Liverpool – Malta route will begin operating on June 13.
As of next year, the entire EasyJet fleet will be serviced in Malta after a deal was struck with aircraft maintenance company SR Technics.
In addition, Ryanair’s flight to Bournemouth was the launch of its 13th route from Malta, the other 12 being Edinburgh, Bristol, London-Luton and Leeds Bradford, Madrid and Barcelona, Pisa, Bari, Venice and Trapani, Dublin and Stockholm.
Sales and marketing executive for Italy, Malta and Croatia Ida Buonanno said: “Ryanair will continue to grow as other airlines pull routes and reduce capacity whilst incurring significant losses.
“With passengers becoming increasingly price sensitive, Ryanair will continue to expand so that even more passengers can take advantage of Ryanair’s guaranteed lowest fares and no fuel surcharges.”
