Summer 2009issue #022

World Tourism Day Photographic Competition

On the 27th of September the Malta Tourism Authority will keep it’s annual appointment and join the rest of the world’s tourism industry in celebrating World Tourism Day.

This year’s World Tourism Day has ‘Tourism Celebrating Diversity’ as its theme. For this reason, and as part of a whole programme of activities that will be organised, the MTA in association with the Malta Photographic Society is launching a photographic competition focusing on the same theme.

The diversity of a country and its people may well be one of the most appealing facets of a destination that is liable to attract visitors. Diversity may indeed be the most emphatic note that will draw tourists to visit such a place. It is this particular characteristic, whether in Malta or overseas, that is intended to draw the eye of all those enthusiastic photographers who wish to participate in this competition.

Rules for this competition may be obtained from either www.visitmalta.com/tourism_celebrating_diversity or else www.maltaphotographicsociety.org.

The closing date for the competition is September 10th. There are cash prizes to be won as well as trophies. The first best 40 photographs in monochrome or else in colour will be participating in an exhibition which will run from September 27 until October 16.  This exhibition will be held at the Auberge D’Italie, Merchants’ Street Valletta.
