Discover Rabat, Mdina and Exceptional Outskirts, is the second and last volume published on Rabat. This document seeks to explore the Rabat-Dingli Uplands in its widest sense, with the magnificent City of Mdina, adjacent villages, towns, hamlets, military structures, and the cultural and historical assets that are dispersed around the countryside of Rabat.

Discover Rabat - Historic Treasures, Mystic Legends, Culture and Folklore
RABAT: Discover Historic Treasures, Mystic Legends, Culture and Folklore is volume one published earlier by the same author, Pauline Dingli. It focused mainly on the urban core of the town and the immediate surroundings of Rabat. The positive feedback from Historians, Maltese residents, and expatriates, encouraged the publication of the second book.
The two books together represent a significant extract from a study conducted earlier, with data collated through years of research.
While the first volume dealt primarily with architecture, streets, and religious-related treasures amongst others, volume two, concentrates more on the openness of the countryside and the hidden features of the rural areas, where curiosities and surprises do not cease.
This book unravels the rich historical and cultural values that have developed into what are today, relatively confined areas, still subtly individual, where people, habitats and even dialects vary significantly. These areas include the ancient capital city of Mdina, rural hamlets of Rabat like Bahrija, Mtahleb, Kuncizzjoni, Santa Katerina and Buskett; and towns like Mtarfa and Dingli.

Mrs. Pauline Dingli- Author, Mr. Alexander Craus -Mayor of Rabat Local Council Malta, Mr. Franco M. Azzopardi- Executive Secretary of Rabat Loacl Council, Hon. Dr. Mario De Marco -Parlamentary Secretary for Tourism in the office of the Prime Minister, Rev. Gwann Azzopardi- Curator Wignacourt Museum.
Rabat Malta Local Council, with the colaboration of the Wignacourt Museum, under the patronage of the Hon. Dr. Mario de Marco Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism in the office of the Prime Minister, has launched these two volumes to create awareness on the rich cultural heritage of Rabat’s urban core as much as the rich natural heritage of Rabat’s rural areas.
