Fish Concert for World Tourism Day
The concert in Bugibba by Fish set to mark World Tourism Day on the 27th September, unfortunately had to be postponed to Sunday 28th due to bad weather.
Nevertheless, the concert went ahead the next day without a glitch in cooler temperatures but no rain. Prior to Fish’s awaited performance, two local bands also performed, Cash & Band, a Pink Floyd Tribute band and Sourberry, who warmed up the sizeable crowd for the finale.

Casual conversations with Fish

On Saturday the 27th September, in an intimate and relaxed atmosphere at the St James Cavalier theatre, a sizeable audience had the opportunity to talk with Fish the former Marillion front man.
Fish was happy to answer questions about a number of issues, from piracy to what inspires him and what’s next in his career, which has been both long and eventful. The Malta Tourism Authority organised this event to mark the 2008 World Tourism Day which was dedicated to ‘Tourism Responding to the Challenges of Climate Change’
34U Campaign launched for Tourists

In a ceremony held at Hastings gardens in Valletta on the 27th September, The Malta Tourism Authority in collaboration with the Ministry for Resources and Rural affairs and the 34U NGO, planted some trees, which were graciously watered by nature to extend the 34U scheme.
The 34U scheme allows people to buy and plant a tree or more if desired to help Malta’s environment. This campaign was originally targeted at locals, however, this year in a bid to promote climate change awareness – the topic for this years’ World Tourism Day, it has been extended to tourists. A tree can be bought during their stay, and they will be given a commemorative photo certificate and a wooden nametag will be attached to the tree.
