Seabed clean-up in Wied il-Għajn
The third sea cleanup this year in the Clean the Seas 2008 campaign saw around 60 divers offering their free time to clear 300kg of refuse along the coast of Wied il-Għajn.
Operating in a dept of up to 3 meters, the volunteers collected bottles, tin cans, assorted plastic and paper containers. The debris collected also included a wrecked spin dryer. Most of the trash was sorted for recycling, the rest was packed for proper disposal. The divers took care to return any marine life trapped in the garbage back to the sea.
This event was sponsored by the Malta Tourism Authority and the local council of Wied il-Għajn.
