‘Carols by Candlelight’ at St. Augustine’s Monastery, Victoria on Saturday December 15 2007 at 7.30pm

The Birgu Local Council in association with the Malta Tourism Authority will be organizing Carols By Candlelight. It is envisaged that this event will be organized on a large scale so that it will attract a large number of people from all over Malta and Gozo to attend.

It is planned that on this evening the streets of Birgu will have their street lighting switched off so that these will be lit up instead by a variety of Christmas decorative lighting emanating from residences. This decorative lighting will be provided in various ways, namely: Christmas trees, cribs, mangers with statues of Baby Jesus as well other decorations related to the Christmas festivities.

During this event numerous musical performances in the churches of Birgu will be held as well as in Victory Square and in various streets. A warm and inviting ambience will also be created in the main square where Maltese Christmas delicacies as well as other foods will be sold

The town’s main festa band groups will be entertaining along the streets of Birgu while there will be a mini concert of Carol singing by some of Malta’s best vocalists.

The programme will start at 18.00 hrs and will end at around 24.00 hrs.
