World Press Photo Exhibition draws to a close
Due to popular demand, the World Press Photo Exhibition was extended to overlap with Notte Bianca. The exhibition proved popular with a high turn-out and positive press reviews.

The main prize was awarded to Spencer Platt from Getty Images, who presented a photo depicting affluent young Lebanese driving through South Beirut, freshly devastated by Israeli bombings. The photo gains further poignancy thanks to the fact that it was taken on 15 August 2006, the first day of the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah. [ > ]

This year's exhibition contains about 200 photographs. This annual public showcase for photojournalism will also include this year's winning photo, together with award-winning images from each of the ten different categories. [ > ]
