ROBERT PLANT WOWS THE CROWD

The Blues and Wine Festival organised between 16 and 18 of July and sponsored by the MTA certainly offered a treat to Classic Rock and Blues lovers in the form of Robert Plant. The legendary front man of Led Zeppelin performed live on stage on the 18 of July.

Robert Plant and his band Strange Sensation composed of Justin Adams, John Baggott, Skin Tyson and Clive Deamer, rocked The Valletta Waterfront and gave the crowds a show to remember. There is no doubt in any of the minds of those present that Robert Plant can still hold his own in the music world today, with a voice that doesn’t falter and a stage presence that could be called larger than life.

Robert Plant and his band were hosted by the MTA and were especially taken care of by the MTA’s divisions related to Hospitality and Public Relations. They were treated to a tour of Malta by Domnic Micallef Segment Head History & Culture. Robert Plant and his band were particularly interested in Malta’s archaeological heritage and were taken to see the Tarxien Temples, the Hypogeum, Hagar Qim, The National Museum of Archaeology and St John’s Co Cathedral and Oratory. Robert Plant stood in awe in front of the statues of the Goddess of Fertility or as more commonly known, the Fat Lady. Robert Plant was so intrigued by Malta’s history and culture that he expressed the desire to visit Malta as a tourist and pay Gozo homage too as he unfortunately had no time this trip. They were presented by the MTA with material about Malta including local traditional; music.
