Inaugural Airmalta flight from Liverpool John Lennon airport
The Malta Tourism Authority with the intervention of its hospitality division planned celebrations for the first two flights from the Liverpool airport. The passengers on the first flight from John Lennon Airport had a surprise celebration waiting for them at the Liverpool Airport, the second landed at Malta International Airport to a warm Maltese welcome due to the late night slot.

The second flight from Liverpool was regaled with a warm Maltese welcome, including honey rings and flowers for the ladies with a march band playing to everybody's delight.
The first flight was also given a special welcome from the MTA hospitality members, but directly from the Liverpool airport due to the fact that it was arriving late Friday night. As part of the inauguration today flowers and honey rings where distributed to the 70 passengers, translating to about 50% capacity of the aircraft.
The Maltese brass band left a very good impression on the tourists, who wanted to take pictures with the band playing and the hostesses in traditional Maltese costumes.
