Low-cost operator Germanwings now flying to Malta

MTA Welcome for Germanwings’ inaugural flights from Cologne and Stuttgart. Both flights landed at the MIA on the 27th of March with almost 90% capacity each.

As was the case with the other low cost airlines’ inaugural flights, officials and animators from the Malta Tourism Authority were at the airport to give a truly Maltese welcome to all the passengers on these aircraft.

A typical Maltese Brass band, as well as costumed valets welcomed the passengers in the Arrivals lounge, co-ordinated by the MTA’s Hospitality Department. Flowers and honey rings were handed out to all those alighting from the flight. The impression left on the German Wings’ passengers was very positive especially since the welcome laid-on was wholly unexpected. The first flight from Cologne with 88% capacity was full of youngsters who danced, cavorted and followed the beat of the brass band with cheerful applause. The passengers from the Stuttgart flight, with an 85% load factor, were a little older than the other flight’s, but also responded to the Maltese welcome with the same cheerfulness and enthusiasm.
