The Knighthood Experience aims to showcase Malta's assets as a conference destination

Fourth edition of the Knighthood Experience

The Malta Tourism Authority, working with Air Malta (the national carrier), and a number of local trade organisations, successfully organized the fourth edition of the Knighthood Experience, between the 15th and 18th March, 2007.

The event immersed members of the international Conference & Incentive travel trade in an authentic Malta experience, which provided a taste of the vast array of Conference & Incentive options available on the Maltese Islands. The 50 guests, including members of the international media, hailed from the UK, Holland, Scandinavia, Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Russia.

The Knighthood Experience is themed around the historical period of the Order of the Knights of St John and combines the Islands' rich history and culture with its leading Conference & Incentive service providers.

The Knighthood Experience is primarily aimed at showcasing Malta's assets as a conference destination, thereby attracting new Conference and Incentive Travel business to our Islands.

Guests were also shown around various 5 and 4 star hotels, whilst having the opportunity of holding business meetings with these establishments as well as DMCs and service suppliers, during a networking session. The Conference & Incentive specialists were also given the opportunity of touring some of the Islands' famed fortress cities, and were suitably inspired by some of the breathtaking views commanded by vantage points throughout the Maltese Islands.

All participants were impressed with the coordination and execution of the programme, the versatility of the Maltese Islands, as well as the level of local conference venues and facilities.

Delegates were flown over to the Maltese Islands with Air Malta, the national carrier, which also collaborated fully in the initiative. Local hotels participating in the Knighthood Experience and hosting delegates for various events were the Corinthia Marina Resort, the Hilton Malta, the InterContinental Malta, Le Meridien St Julian's, Radisson SAS Bay Point Resort, Suncrest Hotel and the Westin Dragonara Resort.

The local Destination Management companies participating in the event and organising elements of the programme were: Alpine Sterling, On Site Malta, Special Interest Travel, Sunspot Malta, Topteam Incentives and United Travel.

Events within the 2007 Knighthood Experience were also addressed by Minister for Tourism and Culture, Dr. Francis Zammit Dimech, and MTA director, Leslie Vella, on separate occasions.
